+ ONE: How do I sign up for Attention Unlocked?

Answer: To sign up, please visit our Attention Unlocked page and reserve your spot. Once you complete your purchase, you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your registration.

+ TWO: When does Attention Unlocked start and end?

Answer: Attention Unlocked is a self-guided e-course that you can join at any time. You can go at your own pace and will retain access for the foreseeable future.

+ THREE: Following my purchase, when will I be able to access the Attention Unlocked content and for how long?

Answer: Attention Unlocked content (e.g. the videos and text that’s behind the Attention Unlocked paywall) will be unlocked immediately to everyone who purchased it. After that, you will have access to Attention Unlocked for the foreseeable future, meaning you will still be able to access Attention Unlocked content as long as you are able to access the services that TOC provides.

+ FOUR: Do I have to commit to a particular schedule during Attention Unlocked?

Answer: Nope! You are free to go at your own pace and opt in and out of activities as you wish. Attention Unlocked is set up to stand alone as a self-guided course.

+ FIVE: Is Attention Unlocked virtual or in-person?

Answer: Attention Unlocked is fully virtual! You will access everything you need for the course online, and then you are free to have fun with your dog wherever you are!

+ SIX: What will I learn from Attention Unlocked?

Answer:

  • By the end of this course you’ll walk away with the skills that will help you navigate real life with your dog. You will:

    • Build a strong reinforcement history where your dog offers you attention in low distraction settings (aka inside of your house).
    • Systematically add distractions (like a treat bag on the ground) in a range of environments so that your dog voluntarily pays attention to you in increasingly distracting settings (aka your yard).
    • Practice a handful of training games that you can have in your repertoire, and learn how to decide when to use each game with your dog in the course of a training plan and/or in a real life setting.
    • Learn how to identify your dog’s thresholds and why working under them matters.
    • Learn a protocol to help you work through almost any of your dog’s distractions or triggers. You can practice with one specific distraction during the course (if you want) and then use the same concepts to work through other distractions.
    • Learn and practice the clean mechanics you’ll want in place to make your training more efficient and less stressful while you are walking, marking behavior, rewarding your dog, and holding their leash.

  • At the same time, invest in yourself and learn:

    • How your brain works and how it’s connected to your body and nervous system.
    • What does it mean to be triggered in your own life?
    • How you can develop resources to settle your nervous system (which can help settle those around you).
    • How to have compassion for yourself as well as the humans and animals around you.

+ SEVEN: Once purchased, how do I access Attention Unlocked?

Answer: When you purchase Attention Unlocked, you will receive an email asking you to complete your registration. Simply log into the Attention Unlocked webpage to access the content.

+ EIGHT: Is Attention Unlocked a good fit for me?

Answer: Attention Unlocked provides you with the skills to teach your dog to voluntarily pay attention to you in distracting settings. it also provides an awesome foundation for more advanced behaviors like, loose leash walking, engaged heel, and recall.

  • If your dog is relatively new to you, this is an amazing place to start.
  • If training is relatively new to you (or you are just picking it back up), this will help you learn the skills to help you navigate the world with your dog.
  • If you find yourself struggling to get your dog to pay attention to you or respond to you in certain environments/around certain distractions, this course will help walk you through building their attention towards you (which is what you need first) around those distractions. (Pssst … even if your recall or leash walking breaks down around certain distractions, this protocol is helpful!)
  • If your dog shows reactive behaviors (hard staring, barking, whining, lunging, jumping, etc.) around various distractions/triggers, this course will help give you some basic skills to start to improve the quality of life for you and your dog.
  • This is not specifically a “reactive dog” course, but the concepts and activities here are what we often use as foundations to support reactive dogs. This course allows you to select the distraction you want to work with, so you have the opportunity to make this easier or harder for you and your dog. Most people can come up with distractions/environments where behavior breaks down, so you always have a way to make this more challenging for your dog.

+ NINE: What age dog is Attention Unlocked designed for?

Answer: Any age! This course is one of the first things we like to do with puppies and dogs because it provides an amazing foundation. It is something we always return to even with the most experienced dogs to work through tough distractions or triggers in the real world. You will also be able to loop back to this course in the future if you run into new environments or distractions that you are struggling with.

+ TEN: What equipment do I need?

Answer: The vast majority of Attention Unlocked can be done without any additional products. We have tried to list anything you might want here. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at hello@tailsofconnection.com .

+ ELEVEN: Where can I find/what is your refund policy?

Answer: We offer full refunds of the price of Attention Unlocked with no questions asked up to 14 days after your purchase. If you need a refund, please email hello@tailsofconnection.com with the subject line Attention Unlocked. Please note that some refunds will take up to 30 days to process depending on your payment method.

+ TWELVE: Is there a special community for Attention Unlocked?

Answer: All content for this course is located on the course page. We will create a sense of community on our main Facebook and Instagram (@tailsofconnection) pages, so follow and tag us in your posts and stories! Be sure to follow us there! We will share as many OF YOUR POSTS AND STORIES as we can to celebrate your success, spread the joy, and allow our community to learn from and be inspired by each other.

+ THIRTEEN: What training methods are used in Attention Unlocked?

Answer: In Attention Unlocked we use a positive reinforcement, science-based approach in line with LIMA principles. Throughout the course we use food, handler enthusiasm, and functional rewards and invite you to use the reinforcers your dog finds most motivating.

+ FOURTEEN: Who are the instructors and what are their credentials?

Answer: The instructors in this course are professional dog trainer, Juliana DeWillems (CPDT-KA, KPA CTP, CBCC-KA, and CDBC), and Dr. Nathalie Edmond, a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified yoga instructor with over 500 hours of training. + SIXTEEN: Is there an age limit?

Answer: You must be 16 years of age or older to purchase Attention Unlocked.

+SEVENTEEN: What if I can't afford Attention Unlocked but would still like to participate?

If you want to take this course and cost is the only factor stopping you, please reach out to us at hello@tailsofoconnection.com and we will give you access to the course, no questions asked. We trust this community.

+EIGHTEEN: What if I didn't receive the welcome email after I purchased Attention Unlocked?

Please check your spam folder. Sometimes email filters can hide the welcome email. If that doesn't work please reach out to hello@podia.com for help.

+NINETEEN: What level of custom support will I receive after I purchase Attention Unlocked?

Juliana and Dr. Edmons will not be responding to individual inquiries regarding Attention Unlocked. We may host IG lives with them where you could potentially ask questions. If we host those events, we will share those videos permanently on the TOC Instagram account in our feed. If you tag TOC on Instagram or DM us there we may respond as well but can't guarantee feedback at this time.
